”Dylan and I met our freshman year of college in 2007. We were involved in many of the same activities on campus. We both love music and so we were involved with the shows that our University would put on. But it wasn’t until after we graduated that we ever became close. He was in his first year of law school and, according to Dylan, he would much rather record with me than study for finals. Over the next three years, we decided to create our own two-person band and kept recording music together. He became my best friend and as a member of my family. Our friends and family saw that we were meant for each other much faster than we did! Our answer was always the same: “We’re just friends!” The timing wasn’t right until my second year of law school in 2016. We finally came to the conclusion that our family and friends had already reached, and now I am married to my best friend!
I started the day by getting ready with my bridesmaids in the honeymoon suite at the Colcord Hotel. Before the Colcord was a hotel, my parents both worked there and is where they met, so it was special for me to be there on my wedding day! All of the guys went to brunch at Packard’s that morning before coming to the Colcord to get ready.
Dylan and I didn’t do the first look, we wanted the first moment that we saw each other to be when I walked down the aisle. Our ceremony was on the second floor of the Gaylord-Pickens Museum, and it was beautiful. As I walked down the aisle, I couldn’t stop smiling and I couldn’t believe that I was about to marry the love of my life!
My favorite memory was the ceremony for two reasons. First, it was the moment that we became husband and wife! Second, our minister, a close friend of our family, incorporated our family legacy into the message. Both of our families were a part of the Oklahoma Land Run and Lottery. Our families had started a meaningful legacy for us, and it is now our turn to continue on with that legacy.
At the reception, our entire goal was to have fun! We went straight into our first dance, which was “La Vie en Rose” sung by Louis Armstrong.
I knew that my Olvi’s wedding dress was “the one” the moment I put it on. I felt like royalty in it! However, I didn’t want to make a split decision and tried on several dresses afterward. But none of them measured up! I couldn’t believe how comfortable it was. The most romantic dress for the most romantic night!”
